Let's face it, no one likes cardio. Anyone who tells you they do is either lying, or trying to sell you something. However, if you are looking to get in shape, cardio is a necessary evil. While it's true that building muscle is the best way to burn fat, a well planned cardio routine will kick the process into high gear and really get your metabolism going. First, let's talk for a second about what I mean when I say "cardio".
Cardio is the common term for aerobic exercise. I'm not going to get technical here, suffice it to say, that generally, when you do an exercise that lasts for more than a few minutes (jogging, swimming, hiking, Tae Bo, etc) you are doing cardio. Cardio is great for improving athletic endurance (and other types guys), as well as burning fat at an increased rate.
